Lancaster is a charter city in the northern reaches of Los Angeles County, set in the Antelope Valley of the western Mojave Desert about 70 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. Residentially, Lancaster offers comparatively attainable single-family housing within greater Los Angeles County — a major reason families and first-time buyers look to the Antelope Valley. Neighborhoods range from older in-town blocks to newer subdivisions, with apartments and mixed-use development near The BLVD and the Metrolink station.
